Author Interview Subhasit Ratnam

  1. Can you tell us a little about your book?

This Poetry collection 'Anuttarit' is my attempt to bring some unanswered questions in front of you and our society. I hope we can ponder on these and find the answers to these questions together.

These poems came directly from my heart, which found words as a way to express themselves on paper.

If these poems can raise some questions in your mind and heart and could motivate you to find their answers, I will consider my efforts & book a success.

  1. Is there a specific event that inspired this story or was this an out of the blue idea?

I have been writing since childhood. Most events happen in our society and we can relate these to our thought processes, societal norms, orthodox practices and most importantly, humanity .

  1. What got you writing in the first place?

My quest to share my feelings with others. When I start writing, the words come on their own like my inner self is dictating these to me to put on paper. The satisfaction which I get after penning down the poems simply can’t be described in words.

  1. What was your impression of your first draft when you read it?

I was skeptical if readers will accept the critics in some poems.

I like writing in Open style without the limitations of rhythms Or paragraphs.

Will this style be adopted by the readers as these are not rhythmic poetry that people mostly relate to. Readers, magazines and newspapers have appreciated my writing style in the past and I hope the same for this book as well.

  1. Which part of your story connects the most with you? Why?

My poems are a reflection of myself which has been shaped in decades. These are connected to me very much.

  1. What makes your book the one to read?

The Composition and ease of connecting with the poems reflect on yourself. The readers may get in the flow of the poems as if they are living in these and relate easily.

These poems are things/questions which we may be thinking about in our day to day life but then forget in our regular fast lives and move on - till it strikes back.

  1. What was the best advice you got while writing?

Follow your heart. Don’t think if it will be liked or not, write what your heart says. You can later do some customizations if needed but don’t break the flow - when you write.

  1. Who’s your all-time favourite author? Which book of his/hers made you fall in love with them?

Honorable Shri Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ Ji and his immortal book  - RashmiRathi.

  1. What is your evergreen tip to the writers out there?

Write with all your heart ,even if you can’t please everyone. Try to address the social issues in your writing and convey a message to audience

  1. What was your hardest scene to write?

The burning questions to the society when they become controversial - like acceptance of love in the society etc.

  1. Do you have another plot brewing?

Yes. I am an experienced IT professional with Bachelors & Masters in Computer Science & Engineering & many technical certifications. My future writing plans include writing poetry books in Hindi & English as well as books on the latest technical innovations (e.g. - AI/ML, Data Science, Block Chain etc.) in simple language for masses.
